Product Description
MT-2 is a synthetic cyclic heptapeptide analog of alpha-melanocyte stimulating hormone (α-MSH), developed at the University of Arizona in the 1980s.
Mechanism of Action
MT-2 binds to melanocortin receptors, particularly MC1R on melanocytes. Activation of MC1R stimulates adenylyl cyclase through G-protein coupling, increasing intracellular cAMP levels. This activates protein kinase A and the transcription factor CREB, leading to increased expression of tyrosinase and other melanin synthesis enzymes.
